Conducting a reconnaissance DD visit to Sri Lanka with a view to establishing new sugar factories. Whilst the Agricultural development report that was produced indicated the suitability for sugar production, there were many social issues that needed attention and the low global price of sugar has discouraged this new development at this time.
Contracted to develop course material and run the agriculturally related aspects of the ‘ILLOVO TRAINING ACADEMY’ for South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Swaziland and Mozambique. Managers and supervisors will be engaged in the academy which has progressed very well with 36 learners having completed the training by the end of 2014. It is anticipated that a yield increase of just 1 ton cane over each and every hectare will generate an extremely positive return on investment. The improved field practices have a spin-off in improved factory recovery and additional returns.

Engaged with a team reviewing the suitability of developing new ‘green field’ farming and Agri-business projects in Ethiopia and Zambia.
